The Woman with the issue of Blood

The Woman With The Issue Of Blood Bible Story

In the gospel according to Mark chapter five, we find a compelling and powerful story of healing and faith. This story revolves around a woman who had been suffering from an issue of blood for twelve years. Let's dive into this miraculous account and explore its significance and message.

A woman of desperation receives healing bible Scriptures

Luke 8:41: And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus’ feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: 42: For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him. 43: And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, 44: Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. 45: And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 46: And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. 47: And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediately. 48: And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. 49: While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. 50: But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. 51: And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. 52: And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. 53: And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 54: And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. 55: And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. 56: And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

The Woman's Desperation and Faith

The woman in this story had spent all her living on physicians but found no relief or healing. According to the Law, she would have been considered unclean due to her condition, and therefore, she was separated from society for twelve long years. The isolation and suffering she endured must have been immense.

Despite her desperate situation, the woman did not lose hope. When she heard about the miracles of Jesus, she decided to take a leap of faith and reach out for healing. Can you imagine the courage and faith it would have taken for her to press through the crowd and touch the hem of Jesus' garment?

The Healing Touch

As the woman touched the border of Jesus' garment, immediately her issue of blood stopped. Jesus sensed power going out from him and asked, "Who touched me?" The woman, trembling with fear and awe, came forward and declared the reason for her touch. In response, Jesus commended her faith and told her that her faith had made her whole.

The Significance of the Hem of Jesus' Garment

The fringes or hem of Jesus' garment, known as 'tzizit,' held great significance. It represented the laws of God and was considered holy. The woman's act of reaching out to touch the hem signified her faith in the healing power of Jesus. It was not the tassle but her faith that brought about her healing.

Lessons for Us Today

This story of the woman with the issue of blood teaches us valuable lessons about faith, courage, and perseverance. Like the woman, we too can reach out to Jesus in our times of desperation and need. We can trust in his healing power and believe that he can make us whole.

The woman's story is a reminder that no situation is too hopeless for Jesus. His power and compassion are limitless, and he is always ready to heal and restore those who come to him in faith. Let us learn from the woman's example and approach Jesus with boldness and trust, knowing that he can work miracles in our lives as well.

In conclusion, the story of the woman with the issue of blood is a testament to the transformative power of faith and the healing touch of Jesus. May we be inspired by her story and approach Jesus with faith and expectancy, believing that he is able to do far beyond what we can imagine or hope for.
