Forgiving someone who hurt you

Learn Why Forgiving Someone Who Hurt You is Important

How to forgive when you are still angry and hurt

forgiving someone who hurt you

Do you go around feeling hurt and rejected? Do you struggle with anger and unforgiveness? How to handle hurt from someone in a relationship.

Does it seem like someone else has said or done something that hurts your feelings every time you turn around? Are you ready to call or email someone and tell them who broke you? Do you keep a list of rebukes you plan to share with that person as soon as you get that prime opportunity? When you lay down to try and sleep, are the events that hurt your feelings repeated in your mind? Is there someone you cannot get out of your head? Do you suddenly become angry when you see or think of a specific person?

If so, you’re not alone. I have struggled with that feeling. I know how that feels. There have been nights when I have tossed and turned, unable to sleep because I was so angry and bitter at what someone did or said. It’s miserable. It’s hard. It’s exhausting. It does damage to the soul, mind, and body. It seems so unfair as it goes on and on.

I recall going for long stretches where I would wait until someone made something right with me again. I’d hold back being friendly and sometimes refuse to speak with them. What a mess that is. I can’t recall many times when someone came back to me and apologized to make it right. It rarely happens. I'm in big trouble if my well-being hinges on someone apologizing and making something right again. I thank God that this is not the case. There is hope for all of us who suffer this way.

It was the strangest thing. A few years ago, I was all bent out of shape worrying over several personal situations when my urge to feel vindicated suddenly drove me to read God’s Word. I wanted to take God’s Word and find passages that proved my right and someone else's wrong. Sad, isn’t it? Though sad as my intentions were, I’m glad I read God’s Word. God knew me and knew how to use that situation to teach me what the cure for feeling hurt really is. Please pay attention to whether what I went through sounds familiar to you. Here is what I learned.

Love Soothes Hurt Feelings

"And above all things have fervent love to yourselves, for love will cover many sins. Be hospitable to one another, without grudging; each one as he received a gift, ministering it to yourselves as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." (1st Peter 4:8-10 MKJV)

"And most of all be warm in your love for one another; because in love there is forgiveness for sins without number. Keep open house for all with a glad heart; distribute among one another whatever has been given to you, like true servants of the unmeasured grace of God." (1st Peter 4:8-10 Bible In Basic English).

"If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap material benefits from you? If others enjoy this right over you, don't we have a stronger claim? But we did not use this right. On the contrary, we put up with everything in order not to put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ." (1st Corinthians 9:11-12 ISV)

I have yet to meet a person who did not ever sin or whom I did not disagree with on something. If I have a relationship with any person, it’s practically guaranteed that they will eventually do or say something to which I could take offense. It happens. It will always happen. Realistically, we should expect it to happen and be prepared to deal with it in a way that will heal and cure us of those offended feelings.

God’s Word tells us to love one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins/offenses. If we do our part and are willing to put up with them, whatever they do or say to us will be covered over by OUR love for those who hurt our feelings.

How to forgive someone who hurt you in a relationship

" False balances are hateful to Jehovah; but a just weight is His delight. Pride comes, then shame comes; but with the lowly is wisdom."  (Proverbs 11:1-2 MKJV)

"He who handles a matter wisely shall find good, and whoever trusts in Jehovah, happy is he." (Proverbs 16:20 MKJV)

"Before shattering, the heart of man is proud, and before honor is humility." (Proverbs 18:12 MKJV)

"Likewise, younger ones, be subject to older ones, and all being subject to one another. Put on humility. For God resists proud ones, but He gives grace to the humble. Therefore be humbled under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your anxiety onto Him, for He cares for you. Be sensible and vigilant, because your adversary the Devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour; whom firmly resist in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions in the world are being completed in your brotherhood." (1st Peter 5:5-9 MKJV)

According to Proverbs 18:12, broken hearts are caused by pride. Not by the pride of the person who hurt us but rather by our personal pride. So, if you’re complaining that someone broke your heart, you may want to consider humbling yourself! Sure, humble people get hurt a lot, but they do not continue suffering from brokenness like prideful people.

According to 1st Peter 5:5, we are each subject to other persons. Where I work, I am subject to what my boss tells me to do. So long as his orders are not immoral, illegal, or might cause harm to the company, I have to obey. It’s the same thing where I go to church. The pastor has authority over me there, too. As her husband, my wife is subject to me. The purpose of humility is just. Just as Jesus washed the feet of the disciples, we, too, must serve one another.

This is Biblical, so it must be taken seriously and applied rightly. Christ-like submission pleases the Lord. We should stop behaving so proudly and learn to submit to the authorities God has placed above us. If someone tells you they only have to answer to God for what they do and say, observe them closely. If it isn't broken already, you’re about to see someone’s heart get shattered.

A Right Relationship with Jesus Makes All Things Right

"Then Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been raised. As was his custom, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day. When he stood up to read, the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling the scroll, he found where it was written, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to tell the good news to the poor. He has sent me to announce release to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set oppressed people free, and to announce the year of the Lord's favor." Then he rolled up the scroll, returned it to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he told them, "Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."  (Luke 4:16-21 ISV)

Praise the Lord, O my soul; let not all his blessings go from your memory. He has forgiveness for all your sins; he takes away all your diseases; He keeps back your life from destruction, crowning you with mercy and grace. He makes your mouth full of good things so that your strength is made new again like the eagle's. The Lord gives decisions in righteousness for all who are in trouble. He gave knowledge of his way to Moses and made his acts clear to the children of Israel. The Lord is kind and full of pity, not quickly made angry, but ever ready to have mercy. (Psalm 103:2-8 Bible In Basic English).

"For if you forgive people their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if you do not forgive people their offenses, your Father will not forgive your offenses."  (Matthew 6:14-15 ISV)

Going back to my own personal situation, as I mentioned earlier, my search for God’s Word to prove myself right ended up exposing how wrong I really was. Don’t you just love it when God allows that to happen? What I learned was that my hurt feelings were allowed to stay and harass me simply because I unknowingly had allowed them to replace Jesus on the throne of my heart.

At that time, my mind was not on Jesus. My thoughts were selfish. I focused on all of my hurt feelings. I had allowed my hurt feelings and thoughts of retaliation to take prominence over my thoughts of Christ and my service to Him. Oh, wonder I suffered so much! Jesus could not access and heal me of these things because my wicked desires had brushed Him aside. Eventually, I began to see this and came under the conviction of the Holy Spirit regarding MY sins that I had committed against Him.

One reason I felt so miserable was because unforgiven sins cause us to be unfortunate persons. I had overlooked this! I learned that God does not bless unforgiven persons with peace of mind. God would be cruel to bless me when I had unforgiven sin in my life. In other words, I could have remained fat, dumb, happy, and lost had not God cursed sin. God loves me. God loves you, too. God wants us to have eternal life with Him. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. By His stripes, we are genuinely healed of our hurt feelings. The catch, though, is that we, too, must be willing to extend this forgiveness we receive to other persons. We MUST forgive, or else there will be no forgiveness for us.

Once I realized that I was bringing most of this on top of my own head, I began focusing on the example Jesus gave us. I started trying to forgive people as He does. By the time I had figured all of this out, it was hard for me to do. It is hard but not impossible since, with Christ, all things are made possible. I began working through practical steps of faith that expressed my desire to forgive. I trusted the Lord and took Him at His Word. The Lord honored this. He always honors this when our hearts are humbled before Him. It was not immediate, but not very long before I noticed I had no more hurt feelings regarding things past.

The story doesn’t end there simply because life and relationships continue. Dealing with people means that I will get my feelings hurt. So, this process of humbling myself and forgiving persons will never end until Jesus causes all evil to end. One day, Jesus will cause all evil to end. Until that day, we must hold fast to our faith in Christ and obey Him. We must make choices nearly every day to forgive or not. A right relationship with Jesus demands we be forgiving persons. A right relationship with Jesus liberates us from our hurt feelings!

When there is unforgiveness, sometimes a spirit of fear enters a person, causing anxiety, stress, worry, etc.

How to Overcome Fear of Future

How to Overcome Fear of the Future

Overcome Anxiety Attacks

Why Worrying About the Future is Pointless Until Broken!

Are you an excessive worrier, and anxiety blocking you from the peace of life or success?
  • Does it interfere with your walk with the Lord?
  • Does it stop you from moving forward in your career?
  • Does it interfere with your decisions?
  • How about in relationships?
Do you have dreams and desires you want to accomplish, but they stop you because of worry and anxiety? Do you need help stepping out into new things? Does your concern involve “what if it does not work?”

Don't Worry About the Future

There is a way out. It is changing the thoughts. In some programs, it is all about you changing your studies yourself.– alone. How has that worked for you so far? In God’s way, you trust God’s word to reframe your thinking. Guess what you are in partnership with Him. Bonus: you grow in the Lord, break free, and find freedom. Isn't it time to overcome anxiety attacks triggered by worry?

Does that make sense? I used to suffer from excessive worry instead of trusting in the Lord. I was insecure with myself – I didn’t trust my decisions.
I learned the power of God, who empowers you to transform yourself in Him. When I did that, I excelled in my career and was promoted to senior content manager. I learned to trust God. Not only that, I started a side business and a flourishing ministry that allowed me to travel the globe, setting others free and training ministers.

How to Plan and Achieve Your Goals

How to Plan and Achieve Your Goals

Oct 23, 2021
woman free from anxiety

So now you have the goal, you need the plan. To do this, look at where you are now and then look at all the things you would need to build the life you are picturing. For instance, you might find that you need a certain amount of money to make your dream of travelling happen.

In that case, you need to look at the options available to you to make that money. Or maybe you want to achieve a certain thing in your career and you realize that in order to get there, there is a certain amount of experience you need to acquire first. How can you acquire said experience?

There are many similar examples of how you might go after a particular goal but the thing to remember in every case is that you need to focus on small steps that are just ahead of you. That might mean the next small promotion. It might mean a small upgrade to your home. It might mean developing any form of small income.

With that in mind, you will break these smaller goals down even further. Now the objective is to look at the most minor possible steps that you need to take on a daily or weekly basis to get there. So if your goal is to have a body like Brad Pitt, then that most minor daily step is simple: diet and exercise.

Look around, find a training plan and a diet that works for you, and then commit to sticking to that every single day without one flaw. Likewise, if your goal is to be a top novelist, then your daily goal will be to write X number of words per day. Make the goals easy to accomplish but ensure they take positive – if small – steps in the right direction.

This is the critical target. This is the primary directive. You’ll imagine that vision and let it motivate you when the times get rough. But you are going to forget anything other than the daily target. Right now, that is all that matters.

To help you visualize this, here is what it basically boils down to:

Dream/Vision (Overarching Goal) > Plan (Stepping Stone Goals) > Daily Target (Daily/Weekly Goal)

Changing Your Thinking

So why is this change in thinking so important? The answer is that focusing too much on a distant goal will make you too detached from what you’re trying to accomplish. For instance, if your only ‘goal’ is to become a novelist, you lack any real structure or plan.

This is going to make it very hard for you to stick to. It’s too easy for you to get lazy, take shortcuts, or even forget all about it. Even if your goal is more specific and time-sensitive – such as losing 15kg in 6 months – you are still too detached from it. Why? Because a) you might still think it’s okay to skip a workout or to cheat on your diet one day and then ‘put off’ the goal.

By the time you have 1 month left and you’re still no lighter, you might give up. Or what if you stick to the plan as much as possible but you still don’t see the results you want? How disheartening is that? So, instead, the goal is the target. You focus just on the one day.

You either succeed or fail. It is entirely down to you. It’s entirely your responsibility and no excuses cut it. But if you keep focusing on the daily targets, you will find that the overarching vision takes care of itself. It’s like building a house brick by brick, or taking a journey step-by-step.

Some Final Tips

Just to help you stick to your path, consider a few pointers.

One: keep your daily targets easy to accomplish. Introduce them slowly. Don’t be in a rush to get anywhere. It is better that you just start to enjoy exercise than letting yourself get burned out or put off.

Two: keep track of the days you succeed and lose. Jerry Seinfeld uses this technique and calls it ‘the chain’.

Every day he does what he sets out to do, he puts a big cross on his calendar. This is rewarding and addictive in and of itself, and his desire to ‘not break the chain’ is reportedly enough to keep him from giving up.

Three: use the most practical and proven methods to get where you want to be. You must believe in your plan.

Why are we willing to go to work every day but not work on a plan we enjoy and that could make us more prosperous? Simple: because when we go to work, we definitely get paid. You need a similar plan. Something that will help you get where you need to be, at least in your mind.

And finally, don’t get disheartened if you miss one day. The aim is not to, of course. But if you slip up, go easy on yourself and just jump straight back on that horse!

God help vs. self help programs

 God help vs. self-help Programs

God-Help vs. Self-Help Programs

Self help vs. God’s Way

or God-centered vs. self-centered programs? What's the difference?

Self-help promotion programs are self-reliance. Can we learn anything from the self-help movement? Self-help assumes that you can indeed do something to help yourself. How has that worked for you? Isn’t it you that got yourself in a mess? Self-help gives me my own small, fleeting glory. Self-help offers a temporal good (at best).

Self-help vs. Christianity

The Christian, awake to the reality that he has no good apart from his God (Psalm 16:2), speaks repeatedly, “Not to me, O God, not to me, but to your name give glory” (Psalm 115:1). Christ is his boast. God-help offers us deep, everlasting joy, secure in his unfading glory. We are changed forever through His power of the Holy Spirit and revelation.

He takes our shame, fears, and doubts when we depend on Him for everything. Self-help is a dead end.

Our Identity in Christ

Our Identity In Christ

We as Christians really knew who we really were in Christ, the devil and his cohorts would shake in fear. That is why the battle is between our ears or through other people to define us opposite of God’s truth. The devil does not want us to know the truth.

If Christians knew who they were and were secure, we would not see church splits, power struggles, etc. Because we are all very special to the Lord. No one is more important than others.

Do you feel like you know who you are in Christ?

Are there things in the past that keep you from knowing who you are?

Do you perform or work to get God’s love?

Why is that?

Do you think we could all relate as a body of Christ if we knew the common interest and Goals of the Lord for the Church?

The Lord said some to be prophets, teachers, preachers, apostles, and evanglists. Ephesians 4 – to build up the body until the body reaches maturity and unity. The fivefold ministry is to be speaking to the body, bringing them together and causing us unified and to get out of diverse and get on meat and steak, not milk – Hebrews 5:13-14. Become mature and not babies anymore.

The body of Christ is to become like him. So, how does this happen?

How are we going to know the thoughts of God when we are in a world that is broken?

We have that answer through the Holy Spirit. Paul said 1 Corinthians 2:10-16

But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

We don’t know the thoughts of God, but the spirit does.

We are released into our future, but it is not based on our emotions.

Reading your bible, praying but it might not be enough. It must be an expectancy from heaven that is supernatural.

You do your part and let God do the rest and then honor him and invite him into every situation.

Even in your bible reading, praying, and fasting is not going to be enough unless God supernaturally helps you in the days ahead.

God must take you into his realm and you must operate there on a daily basis. We must be ignited. When we truly learn how to enter into the realm of God, then we can know who we are.

The Bible says we are royal priests 1 Peter 2:9 – what does that mean?

We are not part of this world. We live in it, but our identity is in him to pull down the enemy's camp. We are priests in the royal kingdom – adopted - Ephesians 1:5 - Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Colossians 3:1–4

bIf then you have been raised with Christ, seek cthe things that are above, where Christ is, dseated at the right hand of God. eSet your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For fyou have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ gwho is your1 life happears, then you also will appear with him iin glory.

Get a spiritual mindset and go about the father’s business. Praying for others taking care of it in the spiritual realm. God must take us to the spiritual realm – go above and beyond – set up above the rulers and authority down here. Stop giving power to the enemy. This is identity – I am not Jesus Christ – but we are to be like him, we are in his image. We are made in his likeness.

Ephesians 5: Be imitators of God. Dearly loved children, not as adults. Allow the holy spirit to uncomplicate us more simply toward the things of God, as a child, be more like Christ by being an imitators of God.

Let’s look at the fruit of the spirit – The character of God after Jesus – God sees us through the blood of Jesus.

·         Love…

·         Joy…

·         Peace…

·         Patience…

·         Kindness…

·         Goodness…

·         Faithfulness…

·         Gentleness…

·         Self-Control…

·         So Paul, in 1 Corinthians 13 is describing what God is like…

·         God is patient…
God is kind…
God does not envy…
God does not boast…
God is not proud… if anyone in the universe has a legitimate reason to be proud, it would be God)
God does not dishonor others…

·         God is not self-seeking…He is God
God is not easily angered…

·         God is not easily angered…
God keeps no record of wrongs… (this is one of the biblical clauses that messes with our theology. How would your view of God change if you realized he wasn’t keeping track of your “wrongs”?)
God does not delight in evil… (it grieves him!)
But rejoices with the truth…
God always protects… (this makes me feel safer) – Ps. 91 – Job 10 – he is our hedge of protection.
God always trusts… (think of the work he has entrusted to us!)
God always hopes… (he hasn’t given up on any of us, and never will!)
God always perseveres… (talk about staying power)
God’s love never fails… (Period. His love ultimately triumphs. Is that a comforting thought?)

These are the characteristics we need to be more like Christ. The entire bible (old and new) is based on the love of God – heart, soul, and mind, others as ourselves. Do we always love god with our minds?

How do we act like God?

This entered our hearts through the spirit of the Lord. But we wrestle with our identity in the flesh instead of the spirit. The fleshly thoughts are what get us in trouble with ourselves. We step out of God’s identity in us into the flesh, which is the opposite side of God. How through satan throwing fiery darts.

How you identify in this life will determine how far you go in this life. Not by heroes on earth but by those who are sitting in heaven – aim higher. Aim towards the throne.

We must be imitators of God – like a child who wants to imitate their father.

Jesus identified with his father and talked about his father. Jesus said I don’t speak unless the father spoke to me first. Everything Jesus did was the spirit of God working through Him. We should have the spirit of the Lord Jesus working through us.

When we identify with that relationship, god has made us his children, and the world can change because we are changed. Don’t allow this world to choke you out. Especially what is happening right now.

We are seated in high places. That means above the enemy. We can trample scorpions and snakes. God will not allow us to be tempted more than we can handle. So rejoice.

It is finishing your race with the joy of the Lord. Joy is not determined by circumstances. Joy comes from within. Joy is the fruit of the holy spirit within you – spiritual joy.

The Lord loves you and wants all of us to be transformed to the next level.

John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Authority – to become sons of God. God sends you and commissions you and is behind you. Those who received him power and authority to become sons of God. You don’t have to be physically strong.

You can carry the power and authority – sent us into this world. Everywhere we go, foot treads – we trample on scorpions and snakes. That is our identity. We are sons of God – with authority and power through Christ.

The enemy fears you when you are sent. You are commissioned. You carry weight in the spirit. The glory of the Lord.

We identify that God speaks. Things start breaking apart. When God stepped on Mount Sinai, the rocks split. Things obey and get out of the way.

You can change history from your house because of authority when you pray. You identify with Jesus Christ, he shows up. God has called you to be a voice. To break the powers of the air. Evil and unrighteousness. Speak it knowing the father has sent you and speak it to the air – declare.

God knew every person and knew their purpose and plan. So, we accept the Word of God for our lives. Not the lies of the enemy (the devil) that lie against our identity in Christ. Not the lies that maybe your parents have said or ex-husbands that said evil about you. Or what the enemy whispered in your head, and you believed it. We do not fight flesh and blood. You can believe God for him to come and visit you.

We have the authority and power to cast out demons lay hands on the sick and the dead raised not on our merit but through our identity and purpose in Him.

John 15:15 we are a friend of God. We are no longer slaves or servant but a friend of God. God shares intimately for what he has for his kingdom to include you into his plan. You must be filled with the spirit of the Lord to come into authority and power.

Phil 1:6 “he does a good work in me – will bring it into completion. You and me. What he started in your, he will finish it. He’s already seen it.

This life is not about fulfilling goals. This life is about knowing him. If you know him, you have everything. Then, his favor causes you to experience things in this life that are a gift. If you prosper, God’s favor will smile upon you. It is unmerited.

You cannot do anything for God to love you more by trying because it is a gift - nor to get him to love you less – it is impossible, even when you sin. Nothing separates us from the Love of Christ.

You get his attention. How do you get his attention?

When you seek him diligently, he is a reward to those who seek him diligently. Hebrews 11. Enoch walked with God. God was so pleased with him and took him to heaven.

In God’s eyes, we are made in the image of God, and through the blood, we are perfect. Completely forgiven. There is nothing that needs improvement.

Working out our salvation with fear and trembling. This is working with the Holy Spirit to help us. He always causes me to triumph over him.

We are righteous and our steps are ordered. God has determined because you have come to him needing help. The next step is the supernatural. Faith is the title deed for what you cannot see – what you believe in. Faith is the substance not seen in Hebrews 11:1.

You can change a country through prayer. You can change the course of your life and your neighbors’ life and change your country. We need to get rid of – party systems, country, etc. Jesus just preached to his people. We have been ordained to carry out his ministry.

Once you realize who you are, you will know what you are supposed to do. You must know who you are and that you are a child. You start to walk into authority. Then, the mission is more straightforward. You are the head, not the tail, you are above and not underneath.

You are implemented at salvation into the kingdom – identifying with him. We don’t work for God. When we preach the gospel, I identify with the Father because we love him and know he loves us. Proclaiming the gospel is not work but a lifestyle. He has given you authority to trample the enemy to sow a seed to others. Helping others.

In the world standards, We are taught you must qualify – train, education, constant advancement, and stress. We are never good enough to qualify. God’s way is who you are. The value of people was determined when you were born. It is not your job. But you are made in his image. He determined the good works you would do. He will talk to you on His level. Jesus came down to our level to do it right. He died for us. He has already come to your level, would you come up to my level and sit with me in the heavenly realm? Be raised with him in power – supernaturally.

Get out of the victim mentality or the trying mode. Isaiah 55: he sits on his throne, and he speaks – word goes forth he waits for it to come back – not void. It accomplishes that he attended – he speaks his word. Hope is sown in your heart – so that you can participate in divine nature – we are partakers of divine nature. Because you are his child.

Paul said where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. Your freedom is in Christ when you grasp and believe His word in who you are. Not others have said to you. You belong to Christ, not those who speak evil. They don’t define you. God does this through His divine nature and the Word of God.

If you would catch the vision for the kingdom of God, the transformation. The war Satan has against you does not mean you’ve done anything wrong. The victory is in Christ.

Jesus took your past, and he has forgotten it, so you need to keep it under the blood because Jesus already cleansed you with the blood of the lamb. Don’t allow the enemy to steal your identity. In John 10:10, he came to kill, steal, and destroy. Destroy what? Get you to believe you are not forgiven, loved, or accepted.

You have the divine nature, the mission, and revelations of who you are and who he is. You will have warfare, but you will win.

You have a choice.

Got Guilt? Is Guilt Triggering Anxiety?
