Five Steps to Overcome Regrets of the Past
Five steps to overcome regrets of the past
Many people carry with them the pain of their past...things they wish they had done differently...things they regret saying...pain they caused others, or something that was inflicted on them. God did not intend for us to carry such heavy burdens and baggage. The enemy of our souls ties us down with such things to keep us from living our lives in the freedom Christ offers and hinders us from being all Christ calls us to be.
The truth is Jesus took our past and forgave us. When confessing sin at salvation, he removes your old clothes and wears a robe of righteousness, 2. He gives you a scepter, rod, or staff of authority over scorpions and snakes; 3. he gives you a crown of glory if you stay strong in Him James 1:12. Plus, you get a new identity (Isaiah 61:10 and
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

So, for us not to forgive ourselves and live in regret is the devil's doing to hold us in bondage. For some people, it can cause anxiousness to full-blown anxiety.
God doesn’t want regret to rob us of our joy in him or cripple us in our glorious pursuit of him. Here are seven keys to overcoming regret:
1. Recognize it is coming from the enemy, so silence the accuser by remembering Christ saved us by his blood.
We have an enemy who loves to remind us of our sins and failures. In Scripture, he’s called the accuser of the brethren.
Christ’s blood has washed us clean of all our sins. Jesus paid for every failure before and after we believed in him. We silence Satan’s accusations by turning to Christ every time he accuses us.
We must discern good and evil according to Hebrews 5:13-14.
2. Write down all your regrets and sins on paper.
3. Go ahead and repent to the Lord for your past mistakes. It will take it away from the accuser.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8.1
4. Then, give it to the Lord or put it on the cross and allow him to heal your heart.
5. Forgive yourself. Let yourself off the hook.
When we cannot forgive ourselves, it is considered self-unforgiveness. Jesus forgives you, so you must, too, or we become a little god. We are commanded to love God, others, and ourselves. For any breach in any of these three areas, fear comes in.
When we mess up, not only repent to God but forgive yourself. You cannot unscramble eggs.
